lunch

Today has been a cleaning day so I didn't really get dressed. But I did make lunch.
My sister and I had pizza with the leftovers from our bruschetta last night. yum!

safe ship, harbored

Old Navy tank top // Old Navy cardigan // thrifted shorts //  Forever 21 hair bow
Chloe and I went to see a local band at the Riverwalk yesterday. There are bands playing almost every thursday this summer. I love that we have these opportunities to see live music so often. The band that played this week are called the Crane Wives.
Check them out!

bye, bye birdies

These little guys have been perched in a nest outside my front door for quite some time now, and today they flew the coop. Its was really cool to watch. My whole family has been keeping an eye on them and we were all so excited. I wish I could have gotten a better picture before they all left, I just could never get up to the correct angle because the nest was on the porch light.
I also got to pick the first batch of blackberries, so I made some flavored water for myself.

snapshots

Nothing exciting really happened today, but I ended up taking a few pictures.

Here is my favorite:
I just wore a pair of shorts and a tank top today but I like the way my belt looked.

open

shirt Wet Seal // necklace, skirt and cardigan Forever 21
tights Target // shoes Old Navy

Today Chloe and I ventured to a total of seven open houses for our friends that are graduating with us tomorrow. I am exhausted. I love this outfit but the wind was so crazy today that a skirt was a terrible idea. Oh well.

Tomorrow a chapter of my life ends, I'm graduating. My sister and I are singing tomorrow for my congregation for the last time and then she gets to read half of the graduating class' names. It's an new exciting adventure and I can't wait. Unfortunately I have to figure out a good way to hide my poison ivy that is slowly taking over my legs. Thank goodness that it was cool enough today to wear tights.

swing dancing

thrifted dress // Old Navy shoes // Target sunglasses
thanks to my sister Alexis for taking these.

Every Tuesday in downtown Grand Rapids my sister and I try to go swing dancing. I've known how to for a few years now because we have an awesome group at school that meets to learn how.

This dress was perfect to dance in because of the length. I had picked it up earlier that day at the thrift store Chloe loves so dearly, and the one that I happen to work at. Which is bad for my wallet because I have bought something each time I have worked. Oops. I do want to shorten this dress just because midi length dresses are not for me.

PS. please ignore the spots on my legs. while cleaning out the woods for the tea party I discovered some poison ivy.

Fall into Summer

vintage dress found in Chloe's basement // borrowed belt // Aerie sandals
Hanna's idea of a cookout was great! She helped me cross off the first item on my summer to-do list. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the odd assortment of food we had.

Endings and Beginnings

borrowed shirt // handmade necklace // charlotte russe (dress) skirt // thrifted loafters

Today was wonderful. I am finally done with school and spent the extra time that I had thrift shopping and swimming. (Unfortunately, my arms are super sun burned and really painful). I still have not found that I am sad about graduating, leaving and starting new at college. I wanted to feel a difference when I walked out of school this morning but I still feel just like I did when I walked into school for the first time in the fall. Maybe it will hit me at commencement but for now everything will just happen at the same pace.

On Chloe and my thrifting escapades I found a lot of really great stuff. I love finding good stuff.
earrings ($0.25) // necklace ($0.75) // bows (9 for $1.50)
but these ended up being free
shoes ($4.00)
various fabrics ($4.50)

All in all, I say it was a pretty productive trip for the thrift store we visited. Especially because its been a while since they restocked.

And finally to end my day, I made myself a wonderful dinner.

balsamic chickpeas, deviled eggs and tomatoes with feta.

Lending a (Eclectic) Helping Hand

Urban Outfitters top // Anthropologie lavender cords // Pacsun sandals

Today was Senior Giveback Day.
I decorated lunch bags for Kids Food Basket.
After we did some volunteer work, our senior class went to a park and had a picnic lunch. When we were in 7th grade we did the same thing. It's funny because everyone was running around and playing. A bunch of guys were playing lava tag. Did you ever play that? It's where you can't touch the ground because it's lava, so you have to jump from one part of the jungle gym to the next.
Anyways, we had a nice day, and I think I'm actually going to miss everyone. I live in a small town, so these are the kids I've grown up with.
